IN 2009 LET THE LIGHT OF CHRIST SHINE!

MINISTRIES & MISSIONS EMPHASES

The leadership team at CSPC has set seven ministries and missions that will let the light
of Christ shine in 2009.  Each emphasis area is outlined below.  We encourage people to know what we focus on and then seek ways in which the Spirit leads them to participate.

CHILDREN AND YOUTH
Our ministry and mission emphasis for children and youth is:
Caring for the spiritual and physical needs of all the children and youth who come into
our church through Sunday morning and Wednesday evening activities.
Those who work in this emphasis area are responsible for the activities, supplies,
and appearance of the nursery and classrooms.

CONGREGATIONAL CARE
Our ministry and mission emphasis for congregational care is the responsibility of the six-member Board of Deacons.  (Deacons are elected annually by the congregation.)
Congregational care is extended especially to the sick, the lonely and the grieving through hospital and home visits and gifts that support spiritual, physical and emotional wellness.

FINANCE - STEWARDSHIP
Our ministry and mission emphasis for finance and stewardship is:
Challenging the congregation with the privilege of responsible Christian stewardship
of money, time and talent;
Developing effective ways for encouraging the offerings of the people;
Assuring people that all giving goes to the area of ministry to which it was contributed.

HOSPITALITY
Our ministry and mission emphasis for hospitality is:
Receiving all people with a generous and humble welcome into a pleasing and sustaining environment.
This emphasis includes:
Welcoming all guests;
Seeing to the nametags for members, friends and guests;
Offering of gift-bread to all guests;
After-worship food and fellowship time;
Appearance of the Fellowship/Hospitality Room;
Supplying the Kitchen.

PROPERTY & CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
Our ministry and mission emphasis for property and the capital campaign is:
Maintaining all church property;
Staying up-to-date with current facility needs;
Planning for future needs;
Keeping the congregation aware of the needs, the plans and the costs.

"WHAT WE DO"
Our ministry and mission emphasis for "What We Do" is:
Overseeing the programs and projects adopted by the Session
(the church's leadership board) that are aimed at ending hunger,
poverty, disease and abuse in our community and world.
These programs and projects are:
The Linn Community Food Bank
The Madge Phillips Shelter
The Olivet Neighborhood Mission
The Brazil Partnership
The Presbyterian Church (USA) Five-for-Five (The Christmas Joy Offering,
One Great Hour of Sharing, The Pentecost Offering, The Peacemaking Offering,
and General Mission Support)

WORSHIP
Our ministry and mission emphasis for worship is:
Preparing space and service for worship that joyfully ascribes all praise and honor,
glory and power to the Triune God;
Leading people to acknowledge God present in the world
and in their lives through the redeeming work of Jesus Christ;
Equipping people for God's service in the world;
Transforming and renewing people for faithfully offering themselves to God.
